Scottsdale, Arizona is situated in the stunning Sonoran Desert, at the base of the picturesque McDowell Mountains. It is bordered by Phoenix to the west, the Tonto National Forest to the north, the McDowell Mountains to the east, and the Salt River to the south. Old Town Scottsdale is renowned as the best urban center in Arizona, boasting over 90 restaurants, 320 retail stores and more than 80 art galleries. The McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale, on the northern edge of the city, is the largest urban natural area in the United States and offers more than 60 miles of trails through diverse and picturesque desert terrain.
